Lavington Sports Oval, also known as Lavington Sports Club, is a beautiful cricket ground that is located in the suburb of Hamilton Valley, in Albury, Australia. This ground has a unique structure and acts as the home ground for Big Bash League side Sydney Thunders. The Lavington Oval is nestled on the side of a hill and has changing rooms located on the north-west flank. This stadium also conducts domestic cricket matches organized by Cricket Australia. The square boundary on one side is above 65 meters, whereas on the other side it is about 55 meters. According to the reports, the fine leg and third man have a distance of around 55 meters from the playing pitch. The short boundaries of Lavington Oval act as a boon for batsmen but a bane for the bowlers. The pitch is generally a good batting surface, which leads to higher scores for the side. The seating capacity of Lavington Sports Oval is approximately 20,000 spectators. This beautiful stadium includes concrete terraces cut into the southern side of the oval below a grass embankment. In 2022, this stadium hosted a men’s BBL match between the Sydney Thunder and Hobart Hurricanes, where the Thunder posted a considerable inning total of 6/228. This game was attended by 10,171 fans.
