The Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, also known as Dambulla Stadium, is a cricket stadium that is located in Dambulla, Central Province. This stadium is built on 60 acres of leased land at the Rangiri Dambulla Temple. This stadium is the newest-built ground in Sri Lanka and the only one located in the dry zone of Sri Lanka. This iconic venue was launched in 2000 which is owned and operated by the Sri Lankan Cricket Team. On March 23, 2001, the stadium hosted its first ever ODI match against the England Cricket Team. The Dambulla Stadium, home of the Sri Lankan Cricket Team, consists of a straight boundary of around 75 meters. The side boundaries of the cricket ground are about 65 meters and 70 meters, depending upon the usage of the pitch. The two ends of this stadium are named Press Box End and Scoreboard End. According to the sources, the Dambulla stadium has a seating capacity of over 16,800 spectators at a particular time. In 2024, the stadium introduced a facility with a hydrotherapy unit and a state-of-the-art medical centre by the president, Ranil Wickremesinghe.
