SWOT ANALYSIS of CSK
Chennai Super Kings, the defending champions are looking strong this year as well and would be looking to defend their title this time around.
Strengths
- All-rounder Depth: Jadeja, Moeen Ali, Dube, Thakur, and the new acquisition Rachin Ravindra offer batting and bowling options. No one can forget Ravindra Jadeja’s performance in last year’s IPL, brilliant bowling figures throughout the tournament and a crucial and match-winning cameo in the Finals of 15 runs in just 6 balls, winning the Finals for the Super Kings in style.
- Spin Bowling: Jadeja and Theekshana are proven wicket-takers, creating pressure on opposition batsmen, along with other spin bowling options including the likes of Rachin Ravindra, M Ali and N Sindhu.
- Experienced Captain: MS Dhoni’s leadership and calmness under pressure are invaluable assets. Deepak Chahar, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Pathirana are some examples of products of CSK who have grown under the leadership of MS Dhoni. - Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad had done the bulk of the scoring for CSK and always provided great starts for the team. They scored 672 and 590 runs in IPL 2023 respectively and were considered the best opening batting pair in the tournament. Devon Conway’s injury is going to be a big concern for the Super Kings.
- Shivam Dube was the second highest six hitter in the 2023 tournament. He smashed an impressive 35 sixes in 16 matches and played with a lightning fast strike rate of 158.33.

To sum-up the SWOT Analysis, CSK have an extremely strong set of all-rounders who can prove to be dangerous as they season proceeds. MS Dhoni’s experience is irreplaceable and would always be an advantage for the Super Kings. However, the pace attack is a big worry for the 5 time champions with a lack of pace along with lack of options.
